Whilst at work I started discussing "pop" songs with names in their titles. My colleague named Norman mentioned a song of the same name. As it was before my time I googled it (Sue Thompson 1961). I then mentioned that there was a song called Denise (my name,) and then we started to play "name a song with a name in the title"! I started with Sweet Caroline, Oh Carolina, Bobby's Girl, Jesse's Girl, Eloise (my daughter's name), Jolene, Help me Rhonda, Sherry (4 Seasons), Maybelline, Peggy Sue, Wake up little Susie,A boy named Sue, Sheila (my Mum's name!), Sadie - the cleaning lady, Diana, Jumping Jack Flash, Claire (English song by Gilbert O'Sullivan), Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac as I think Sarah is also - but I could be wrong. Then I dried up but I know there has to be heaps of them out there(keep thinking there are a couple of Beatles ones) - how about it?! Think

Crossroads seem to come and go.... yeah
The gypsy flies from coast to coast,
Knowin' many lovin' none,
Bearin' sorrow havin fun,

But back home He'll always run....
..to sweet Melissa. mmmhmmm...

Freight train, each car looks the same.... all the same
And no one knows the gypsy's name,
No one hears his lonely sigh,
There are no blankets where he lies,

In all his deepests dreams the gypsy flies.....
..to sweet Melissa.

Again the mornin's come,
Again he's on the run,
Sunbeams shinin' through his hair,
Appearin' not to have a care.
Pick up your gear n' gypsy roll along...
..roll along.

Crossroads, would you ever let him go? ...no, no.
Oh will you hide the dead man's goast?
Or will he lye beneath the plain?
Will his spirit roll away?

But I know that he wont stay...
..without Melissa.

Yes I know that he wont stay...
..without Melissa

Ooo another one came to mind no doubt prompted by the suggestions made by TFD colleagues - Mandy by Barry Manilow - seems to be an awful lot of girls names doesn't there?! Ooo & Sandy by John Travolta (Grease movie).
