It seems that RESULT IN can only be used for bad or unwanted results. e.g. "That revelation would result in mutual destruction." (GOSSIP GIRLS, Season 4)

So if I'd like to desmonstrate some positive result, what can I use? LEAD TO??

I don't feel it has to be negative

eg
Quote:
All information is important as it can result in time and money savings, as well

Quote:
These changes can result in a notable increase in overall productivity.

But you are right - they do generally seem to be negative outcomes

I don't - though I gave it some thought yesterday - see it as a bad or negative precursor to anything. I see it merely as a statement of fact: a process has taken place, and here's what happened because of it.

"You've achieved First Class Honours. As a result of this, you are invited to discuss your future in academia."

"I Award you this badge as a result of your bravery in the recent floods"

"As a result of missing that train, I had to get the bus - and if I hadn't done that I wouldn't have met the girl I married." (There, that's nice and positive!)

Perhaps it's completely subjective and depends on individual experiences as to whether it's perceived in a negative/positive or neutral light? Rather than a lexical bias?

It's hard to say. Other people's answers didn't solve the problem.
