Fracas

If your marching band gets into a fight with another school's pep squad, your principal might say the fracas was uncalled for and undignified. A fracas is a noisy quarrel.

The names alphabet stock and lettered stock came from General Motors' acquisitions of Electronic Data Systems and Hughes Aircraft in the 1980s. Lettered stock is common stock of a company that is linked to a specific business segment within the company. A lettered stock equity structure actually splits up a diversified firm's operations without a legal separation of corporate assets and liabilities.
