Synonyms: metamorphose, transmogrify

Usage: To you, my friend, she would have appeared a hideous and ugly creature, but to me she was beautiful—so gloriously does love transfigure its object.

I hesitate to buy new brands of legal ethics by which, once unlawfully build upon, abuse somehow transforms itself into lawfulness.

I find that a figure which is clearly described as cost of sales (and then shown as a loss) cannot then be transfigured into an 'asset'.
