 Luis de Góngora y Argote (1561)Góngora was a poet of the Spanish Golden Age who successfully wove Renaissance and popular poetry into an original and elegant form. Gongorism, which refers to an over-elaborate, ornate style of writing, has a visual analog in Churrigueresque, an over-the-top, ornate style of architecture. Both words are eponymously named after their Spanish inspirations, de Gongora and Churriguera.
