When the Democratic National Committee asked Monroe to sing her famous rendition of "Happy Birthday" to the President at Madison Square Garden, Jackie refused to attend and instead stayed in the Virginia countryside with her children rather than being publicly humiliated in front of thousands of people.

Sad for Marilyn Monroe. Her life was quite rough...ended up with a broken heart from her beloved Kennedy.
