"Education! Education! Education!" Tony Blair- illustrating that the best of intentions don't always work. It takes committed determination and dosh too.

Did you know that the state of Texas looks at how many students are failing in middle school to determine how many jail cells to build? Education matters.

Oh mine...it sounds so cruel...

I believe education is power. But in fact not everyone could continue their studies till college, is it something to do with lifelong education that depends on goverments policy(e.g., Community College)?

I'd also like to add that when the government 'invests' in education, things seem to get worse. Just sayin'. If that offends you, good.

Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education. Our requirements for world leadership, our hopes for economic growth, and the demands of citizenship itself in an era such as this all require the maximum development of every young American's capacity. The human mind is our fundamental resource.

- President John F. Kennedy, February 20, 1961

When the original the Higher Education Act was being considered in the 1960s, my brother, President Kennedy, said this: "Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education. Our requirements for world leadership, our hopes for economic growth, and the demands of citizenship itself in an era such as this all require the maximum development of every young American's capacity. The human mind is our fundamental resource."

- Senator Edward M. Kennedy---July 2007 >>>>> source Huffington Post.

To those individuals who helped over forty (40) years to pass this. Thank you. To those who blocked it, Why?????

peace out, >^,,^<

Hi kitten, this is interesting to me. Could you, briefly, tell what the Act was intended to do, please?
