All this will not be finished in the first 100 days. Nor will it be finished in the first 1,000 days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.

And, if a beachhead of cooperation may push back the jungle of suspicion, let both sides join in creating a new endeavor -- not a new balance of power, but a new world of law -- where the strong are just, and the weak secure, and the peace preserved.

All this will not be finished in the first one hundred days. Nor will it be finished in the first one thousand days; nor in the life of this Administration; nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.

In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course. Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to give testimony to its national loyalty. The graves of young Americans who answered the call to service surround the globe.

Inaugural Address--20 January 1961- President Kennedy

It is a lovely speech to read, full of hope.

peace out, >^,,^<

JFK was amazing, and one of my childhood heroes but, it was RFK who really would have changed the world. Oh and btw I don't buy either of the official accounts of their deaths.

JFK, a brilliant leader in his time, with a message of note.

These were the words of a forward thinking leader, not much different from our current President. I wonder what JFK would have thought of "tweeting" and "facebook." Would he have survived the minute to minute news cycle? I think not-----there would have been a Republican or right wing nut somewhere saying "First he said 100 days, then he said 1000 days then he said maybe not even in this Administration. Well if he doesn't know.... how are the rest of us supposed to know? He's the leader of our country and he can't commit to how long it will take!" You ALL (well...American citizens, anyhow) know this would have happened if JFK talked like that today. One bad tweet and he's out!

There was a time when we hadn't succumbed to consuming capitalism?

Okay, I was joking--America is far more complicated and better than a nation of money-grubbers.
