The thread on "Words as Names" from the English vocabulary section made me think about all of the crazy things movie stars name their kids and how these names sometimes begin a trend. Then again, sometimes they don't.

Here are a few doozies (feel free to add to the list):

Brooklyn (David and Victoria Beckham)
Bronx Mowgli (Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz)
Apple (Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow)
Jermajesty (Jermaine Jackson and Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza [previously married to Jermaine's brother Randy])
Kal-El Coppola (Nicholas and Alice Kim Cage)
Moxie CrimeFighter (Penn and Emily Jillette)

Movie stars create trends all the time. Usually the trend
dies before them. Also,I hope, for the sake of the children
with these silly names, there are, later on, at least two or
three other children in their class with equally silly names.

Probably not in Zappa's case. He was very anti-drug. Empirical evidence indicates that he did not need them.

I believe Moon's full name is Moon Unit...so, basically, she can't fall back on her middle name to hide the first one.

And let's not forget Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's kids...

A couple of unusual celebrity offspring monikers that spring to mind:

Pilot Inspektor (Jason Lee and Beth Riesgraf)
Blue Angel (The Edge and Aislinn O'Sullivan)
Moxie CrimeFighter (Penn Jillette)

I believe Moon Unit's full name is Moon Unit 1 Hasn't he performed some guitar gigs or am I confusing him with another Moon Unit?

Her name is actually Moon Unit. And she's a pretty decent writer, for what it's worth.

Moon Unit Zappa is female, so you must be confusing her with someone else.

This is her:

There are a bunch of websites with lists devoted to exactly this subject. Here are a few names, for the sake of entertainment:

Camera (f) - Arthur Ashe and Jeanne Moutoussamy Ashe
Seven Sirius (m) - Erykah Badu and Andre "Andre 3000" Benjamin
Denim Cole (m) and Diezel Ky (m) - Toni Braxton and Keri Lewis
Fifi Trixibelle (f), Peaches Honeyblossom (f), and Little Pixie (f) - Bob Geldof and Paula Yates
Alcamy (f) - Lance and Mary Jane Henriksen
Free (m) - Barbara Hershey and David Carradine
Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily (f) - Paula Yates and Michael Hutchence
Hud (m) and Spec Wildhorse (m) - John Mellencamp and Elaine Irwin
Audio Science (m) - Shannyn Sossamon and Dallas Clayton
Dusti Raine (f) and Keelee Breeze (f) - Rob "Vanilla Ice" Van Winkle and Laura Giarritta

All I can say to some of these is "Are you KIDDING me?!"

Oh yeah, and someone PLEASE sterilize Paula Yates before she can saddle another innocent little girl with an absolute travesty of a name...

Two final extra-constitutional barriers to becoming President of The United States: being an atheist and being named "Moon Unit" or what-not.

Rainbow Sun Francks (m)- Canadian actor/ musician, brother of actress Cree Summer and son of actor/ musician Don Francks.

I did suggest to my sister that she name her son Rainbow Moonbeam, but that was only because he was born on Earth Day.

A little boy named Rainbow would be teased mercilessly. It would have been cool for her to give him an earth/conservation related name, though. : )

Oh, apparently, they're both HUGE Disney fans. [/sarcasm]

This name is completely unacceptable and they should have been brought to court and made to change it.

Every single time I hear this poor child's name, I am reminded of the computer game Zuma.
