Agreed. We're getting rather close to that precipice right now. We've lost something essential on the path to modernity, and have no idea that anything is even missing.

Au contraire! It is those humans who are lacking in 'civilisation' who will 'end'!

So, 163yrs ago Mr. Emerson is seeing #PoliticalCorrectness play it's course well into the future. Once again, via Mr. Emerson, evidence points to "theory" that certain persons are chosen by an Entity to navigate other persons into a future time slot.

Civilizations come and go, but the human race is still here... Why Western civilization must be an exception?

Civilization is the thinnest veneer overlaying the brutal, violent, self absorbed essence of our continuing animal nature.

Have you lived in an uncivilized environment? That is nothing to be proud of and not a place grow posterity.

Unfortunatly I think this comment is infinatly wise and true
with all advanced technology people not interacting in person as used to do
not that it is a bad thing technology I mean
But human interaction and care and understanding personally is not as often seen
my conversations with friends and strangers too, inspire me creatively to think and act and do

Things that get over-full tend to topple over. So if there’s too much civilization, human beings can topple and fall. And because their instincts have been dulled by trying to adhere to a set way of acting, they will have a harder time trying to get back up. So I think balance is the answer. Be appreciative of the finer things in life that we often experience because of civilization, but also recognize when a people can get to a state of mind where they intuitively do the right thing, they can build a society where everyone that’s a part of it can thrive for a long, long time.

The question is: Would the human race be civilized about it in the end?
