Is it from the goodness of the Bible that such a tragic phrase originated - Silence of the Lambs- or from where else?

Do you hear the lambs Clarice? Tragic how? It's what's for dinner.

I must say, the phrasing of that question is very mawkish.

Where did the term silence of the lambs come from?

It is explained near the beginning of the book...When you are being strangled to death you hear a sound that sounds like lambs bleating..as you get close to death that sound stops..hence The Silence of the Lambs. <<<< Answers.com--Wikianswers.

It is also the name of a movie. It's so interesting I recommend you to watch this movie. Foster is acting in it.

Thank you Rama I loved that movie, because of the extraordinary actor Anthony Hopkins the main character in that unusual movie

I do know, about the book the movie (the sound like lambs bleeding), in other animals the sound or tremor stops once

close to death, specialy when a knife cuts into the troat sectioned were blood halts in full vibrant life, naturaly make's a

sound. I think we will have to leeve it there. To tell the truth 'Silence of the Lamb' as i understand it, was the tittle to the

sadisme depicted in the story. The lamb being the most sweet, innocent, defenceless, as if Nature did not want him to run for

his life. Makes me wonder why in the Bible Lambs are Symbole of Purity, Peace, submitting quietly to Sacrifices. Trough out

the Ancient Bible, there was a Haulocaust of Lambs. Did God create them for some....?
