We all know this reality TV show, I am assuming this because they claim to be copied in more than fifty countries. But then I don't believe the statistics they show about their popularity. Here in India it has been renamed and is called as "Bigg Boss" ( don't ask me about the extra 'g' there, may be another one of our GG's fan) this is the fourth season that is running. I have watched them all and no I am not a fan of reality TV shows Not talking . There are just one or two that gets my attention. I think this season is better than the lat two. We are having the WWE wrestler in the house this time, and he seems to be a nice guy.

So tell us about the "Big Brother" in your country/region.

I don't know about such a show.In fact, I don't watch much TV because local TVs are mostly annoying. Often my ears become offended (if I can say so)while I watch TV.But if there was such a show I suppose I might know because the kids would speak about it.

Bigbrother lasted here for about 5 seasons. It ended a few years ago after a situation got out of hand.
Did you know the term BIGBROTHER was borrowed from George Orwell's "1984"?

I remember having good laughs some years ago when I saw screaming headlines of an afternoon tabloid in kiosks:
"Big Brother star crashed his manager's car!" (Star?!)

Few weeks ago we were watching some talk show in TV (actually I was in Forum and followed the program with half an ear). I focused my attention to a dumb who couldn't give out one rational sentence and asked my beloved who that idiot might be. Wife told me he was a Big Brother winner 2008. Had to go to fridge to get a beer and go out to cigarette for the rest of the program.

Well, now I know. This was something I wanted to know but was too lazy to find out.

We have 3 versions in the Philippines, the original 1) Big Brother, 2) Big brother Teen Edition, 3) Big Brother Celebrity Edition.

Most of them have gained popularitiy, and have become some of the biggest stars here.

I find reality TV shows a waste of time...as I feel everything put up there is staged... I wonder, still they garners big time TRPs...BTW why there is so much of fuss about its timings?.. I guess the concerned authorities are against it being aired in the prime time slot?

Frank Zappa, was probably one of the most astute social commentators of the 20th century. Reality T.V. shows are a prime example of what he warned against in the following song of his.

I am the Slime

I am gross and perverted
I'm obsessed n deranged
I have existed for years
But very little had changed
I am the tool of the government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you

I may be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say
I am the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I am the slime oozin out
From your tv set

You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't got for help...no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold

That's right, folks..
Don't touch that dial

Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin along on your livinroom floor
