This title is in the middle of a series. They stand alone but it is better to read them in order. They are about mysteries solved by a Quebec head of the Surete du Quebec (need accents), but they are about so much more. An excellent author. Plot, characters, life! I read them all and every one was hard to put down.

So if you like mysteries...

While she expected to pay the usual large sum to use Leonard Cohen's quote in her book, he told her she owed him nothing for the usage.

The second in a series, starting with "Crystal Singer".

Anne McCaffrey is an excellent writer with a brilliant imagination.

Yes and the title of "I,Robot" finishes with a letter "T" and " Thank You Jeeves" starts with a letter "T" I fail to see your point.
Except I failed to write Pelham Grenvilles Wodehouses name, despite the fact it is clearly seen in the image of the books dust jacket?
A slight oversight on my behalf.

Hi Alice - you like China Miéville?
I thought Embassytown was amazing. Brilliant imagination and sense of detail, even in the most complex scenarios.
He says his genre isn't SF, it's 'weird fiction'.
