In my opinion ugliness and beauty is relative . After living or knowing somebody for a while you'll get used to the physical shape . What really maters is the manners and purity of her sole.

As the old saying goes “ You can't judge a book by its cover ".
I personally believe that a persons beauty is in their heart. You can have a beautiful person on the outside but inside they can be very ugly and vice versa.
That is just my opinion. ☺️

Turkish poet Asik Veysel said that:

"Your beauty is utterly worthless
If I don't love you."

Ugliness, n.: A gift of the gods to certain women, entailing virtue without humility.

Ambrose Bierce (1842-1914)

My interpretation:

Ugliness is virtue without humility. ...at lest one version of ugliness.

Turkish poet Asik Veysel said that:

"Your beauty is utterly worthless
If I don't love you."

Because:
If I do not "see it"
my heart cannot respond to you

(except perhaps with pity)
I think it is necessary;
I must see your inward beauty.
When one sees the inward ugliness of the person you love,
it is like seeing a beautiful work of art
disfigured, desecrated, trashed.

Ambrose was a satirical author. This quote is from his book, The Devil's Dictionary, published in 1910. He had fought in the American Civil War. He came away thoroughly disgusted with war and his attitude never improved. I really like him and think this is funny. It certainly is in opposition to the saying, "Pretty is as pretty does."

Perhaps is the opposite of the notion that beauty can be curse because it blinds others to your true worth. I don't know, but it is satire.

Hi jonfi, as you once said, "ugly is clear to the bone." I liked, "Ugly is in the eye of the beholder." Is that an original jonfi quote? Very funny!

Virtue without humility, in turn, is morality which one can proudly flaunt having never been tempted by vice.

Thank you srilalitha p! That's what I was going to say, but I brought some examples.

I've got to add that I'm a huge fan of John C Reilly, I think he's hilarious! & I always loved Dirty Old Town by The Pogues, featuring Shane MacGowan, pictured.
