I was looking up The Ritz and came across this video about afternoon tea there. What annoys me is that the video starts with a piece of music I know and love, but I have this mental block and cannot recall its name... does anyone know?

I couldnt get it either, but assume it could be the old song, was it sung by Bing Crosby? that era anyway.

I'm not sure what the waltz is in the beginning, but about 50 seconds in, the music goes to the 3rd movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 (in C) K467

I am getting off the course for a second.

What happened? I saw posts by Grady and Babezy in this thread, and then it vanished.

Hi, srirr,
I posted that it was classical music, saw that PH had just said the same thing, and removed my post as redundant. Your eyes weren't deceiving you!

A free toaster in yellow...four slot... 6 grades and powerful pop up, plus beeping noise when toasts about to jump... for the one who gets it!

I made this account especially just to tell you, as I recognised that song. It's from an opera, actually. Check the final scene of Pretty Woman--

It's from the opera La Triviata, the song, Amami Alfredo.

Check 3:30 of the song--

Hummm…not sure about the first piece but I believe the song toward the end is Steppin’ Out With My Baby, by Irvin Berlin, from the musical Easter Parade. It was originally sung by Berlin. The starting music I will have to think about…cannot put a name on it! :/

Yes, Verdi...soaring and lyrical. It just invites you to hum along.

Oh, and I belive now I know why they show this place to the music from La Traviata! Because Franco Zeffirelli made a few episodes of his movie in here, or so I believe. By the way, if you never saw this movie and if you care for Verdi and for his La Traviata- find it and watch! This is a very old film, forever around. In college, my friend and I used to go to watch it every single evening, religiously - the whole time it was on in a small theater where old non-profit films only were played. Ever since I see Violetta only as Teresa Stratas and Alfredo - as Placido Domingo. No one else is good enough for me! And every time I hear those first sounds of the overture, my heart skips a beat. For the rest of my life I believe that La Traviata showed me the golden standard of love.
I found a part of that big episode that I think was made in the Ritz Hotel.

Hallo Peter, without trying to be funny, I seriously asked myself the question: 'why is Peter interested in some
Ritz-song, while having a mental block, and at the same time drops a line, as there is, :He that increases in knowledge increases in pain..?
It's just me, Mimosa, asking this question, haven't been around writing, just reading...and now trying to get more involved in/on this forum.
So, this little remark is just, as we- in Holland- say: "a dime in the pocket".

By the way: had that movie a star in it from Dutch origin?

Groeten uit Groningen,
Mimosa

Welcome back to the forums, Mimosa. It's good to see you posting again. It was nice of you to ask Peter what was on his mind. Many of us have asked him that, humorously and not so humorously, over the course of many months. Unfortunately, on October 21, he gathered up his toys and went away from FreeDELFia, apparently never to return. Perhaps he will come back to answer your questions.
