Please be aware that we have recently modified our signature guidelines and will no longer be allowing links in user signatures. This will help us weed out spammers as well as make threads more readable.

If you would like to share your homepage and/or blog link with other users, you may do so using the dedicated features available in your personal profile. Simply click on the “My Profile” link found in the gray bar at the top of the forums page, and then click on the “Edit Profile” option found under the Personal Profile header. Insert your homepage and/or blog URL in the appropriate box (listed under Home Page). Scroll to the bottom of the page and click save. Once you have done so, icons linking to these sites will appear at the bottom of each of your posts.

Also, we ask that your signatures do not exceed one line of text or 120 characters in length. Longer signatures are visually distracting and make it more difficult to read through threads. If your signature is currently more than one line/120 characters or includes a link, please modify it accordingly. If you do not change it in a timely fashion, administration will do it for you.

We would encourage you to review the signature guidelines in their entirety here: http://forum.thefreedictionary.com/rules.aspx.

Edit: We realize that the limit of one line of text is subjective and varies based on monitor size. Therefore, we are specifying that signatures not exceed 120 characters.

Good idea, I just marked as spam one of those myself, it will be better if no one is allowed to sneak in ads in their signature.

Let's see those icons . . . And thanks for eliminating links from signatures.

[edit after posting] Works like a charm.

Yeah, and "DisabilityGuide" too I think. I've marked a bunch of their posts as spam, see if it gets admin attention. They are an interesting evolved form of spamming, where someone gets paid to make nearly-plausible posts.

Now to go make my sig one-line…

Correct. I have marked Sujendra's posts as spam and have also sent a PM to Admin. Hope action is taken soon, because he/she is growing like a virus, has crossed the 30 posts mark.

It's kind of mind-boggling and pathetic that some drudge would put the effort into getting enough posts in to lose the "mark as spam" button before coming to the attention of the admins—which, I see, they did and have been terminated. Yay!

What makes this more amazing; I, too, sent a PM to admins and spam-marked sujendra's posts. GolmanM just answered and told that this case has been handled, spams deleted and user banned, thanks for noticing. And it is right now 2 o'clock AM in Philadelphia (that is 2 AM Freedelfia Mean Time).

Yes, but Admins have all the power to terminate such poster and ban them even when they reach the Advanced Member status. It is our duty to inform Admins as soon as we notice. Better late than never.

Cheers for Admins' efforts.

You have nothing to worry about, Tov. Your signature is so short it fits well within new regulations ;-)

This is what myself, a newcomer, try to understand; A signature that would take 120 characters..and could exeed but should not, one line of text? For what i have seen about names at least, never would i loose my time typing those boring endless names. What is the meaning? And why the names are crazy numbers and all? To resume; Signatures = names? Thank You, R.

Raia, the signature is the quotation that some of us have included to appear below the line at the bottom of all our posts. Mine, for example, is by P.G.Wodehouse.

I recommend the bright orange one for RD. It is twice the strength of the yellow one.
