"A volte nella vita non e important cosa si fa, dove si va, ma e importante lasciare il ricordo di se stessi che vive negli altri"

If I were to say, "sometimes in life its not important what you do, where you go, but its important to leave the memory of yourself living in others", would that be a decent translation?

I'm not an Italian speaker, but how about this ?

'Sometimes in life what you do or where you go is less important than how you are remembered.'

By no means literal, but I think it gives the sense a little more compactly than your ( albeit excellent ) version.

Welcome to the forum, spaton. Good to see more representation from our great frozen ( well kinda foggy right now ) land !
