Hi,

I recently obtained a marriage record (of my 3 times great grandfather) from the Dutch Reformed Church in Sri Lanka – and not surprisingly it is written in Dutch. If anyone can help with the translation it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

It is Dutch, yes; old Dutch and written in almost illegible scrawls...

I can not understand every single word, but I do my best.
Ok.

First the above pink area:
something as "Dato as ...honneur (?) Are on request and just on their own with the marriage connected."

Then grey leftside the names:
The pink box rightside:

"Benjamin Thomas"
"Age 20 years Member ... governess .. facing Everhard.. Johannes Labrug(?)"

with

"Engeltine Hansen"
"Age 14 years Member our community her parents standing witness proponent Dominicus Matheus"

"Married 26 april 1820"

Hope it helps you a a little, Drogon.
