In the movie "500 Days of Summer";

When Zooey says that she will end their relationship with his boyfriend.

He says.

"Don't pull that with me."

What does it mean?

"Don't pull that on me" means don't do that to me - whatever "that" might be. It could be a trick, or a deception, or trying to convince someone about something.

What's its origin? Why "pull"?

This is just a guess on my part, but it may be related to an idiom in English "Pull the wool over (someone's) eyes".

It was first recorded around 1838 in American English, and meant "don't try to deceive me", or " I was tricked/deceived". It may have come from the wearing of wool caps and if they were pulled down, or were loose and fell down, over the eyes, the person couldn't see clearly.

Being tricked, or deceived, would mean they didn't see what was happening to them, much like having the wool pulled down over their eyes. They were blind. But that's just a guess.
