As this chart demonstrates, it really is not all that much of a hardship to work on climate change. Polluters who profit pay for their mess, and the average person benefits with rebates with the above system.

Many dissenters make a tempest out of an ideological teapot.

What the GOP likes to call the "Carbon Tax" makes business sense and would make the transition to non-fossil fuels much more efficient and less uncomfortable to consumers. In the US, this is a non-starter because the fossil fuel industry lobbies are far too powerful and inject millions into "mostly republican" campaign chests as well as into Political Action Committees (PACs). The fact that we let our country fall behind the rest of the world in order to pacify a minuscule minority speaks volumes.
