Hi Everyone!

I see "You can see how many meals you have earned by looking for the spoon icon in your stats panel."
I am just curious to know according to what a member can earn a meal?

Looking at my stats panel, I don't see any spoon icon since I don't have any meals.

Thanks in advance.

Once in about fifteen minutes the system metes out a spoon. These are three latest recipients:

http://secure.thefreedictionary.com/user/Beethoven
http://secure.thefreedictionary.com/user/chickenshorts
http://secure.thefreedictionary.com/user/rd387

As I look at their profiles now at noon GMT all of them have 200% of brain level. And this is a prerequisite.

Your brain level is 84% as I look at your profile:

You will not get a spoon unless you are a little more active. Consider reading articles at the TFD home page. You can practice spelling on that same page. Or you can meet me in a game of Spelling Bee here:

Many thanks for confirming that.
But, when visiting that link above, I couldn't find any members to be invited to meet me in that game. I tried searching by name, but no result appeared.

Push the Leaderboard button at the top of the page (in the center) and then choose Everyone - you will get the list of all players. There's the Challenge button in every line to invite that particular person.

If you do not want to wait for someone to accept your challenge you can play with a random opponent - just choose Join new game on the main page.

Hello, Xap6NH,

I have checked out the stat panel of James13, and I found out that his brain level has been still indicating 200% although his active streak is 1066 days and his longest streak is 1066 days. Thus, I don't think his brain level should be still indicating to that percent as long as this brain level indicates to his current learning level. However, he hadn't logged for about 1066 which means his current learning level must have been declined.
Also, what can I benefit from those meals?

You don't gain anything from the meals - they are given to starving children.

I don't think that your "brain level" has to be 200% - I don't think that I have ever reached that level.
I don't TRY to get points and percentages, I just participate in the forum as I am interested. I read articles sometimes, if they look interesting. I've never played a game against anyone on this site.

A long time ago, one of the admins - Nnorlen - wrote:
"Meals are earned by those who use the site the most over a given period of time. This level of usage is measured by your brain level. Consistently achieving a high brain level (more than 100%, which means you've exceeded usage expectations) will put you in the running to earn meals.

We have not made any recent changes to the scoring system.
"

There are only a certain number of 'spoons' per day, so if you are active on a day when no-one else is working on the site, you have a great chance. If you are very active on a day when thousands of other people are also very active, you have little chance.

His current streak being 1077 he's been logging in every day for almost 3 years. A faithful member I'd say.

Hello,
I am expecting that "Longest streak" determines when the last time a member was logged into the site.
So, when seeing his Active streak: 1081 days, his Longest streak: 1081 days, then I judged that he wasn't logged into the site 1081 days ago.
If wrong, then what these "Active streak: 1081 days, his Longest streak" indicate to?
I think it is not allowed to know when the last time a member was logged into the site(The status: a member's last seen).

I just took a look at your profile:

Quote:
Active streak: 12 days
Longest streak: 24 days

This means that you have been logging in every day for last 12 days.

24 days is the longest ever streak - the maximum number of days that you have ever logged in in a row. It doesn't pertain to today (unless they are the same number) - it could happen three years ago.

I just noticed a typo.

Raw is for raw fish.

'in a row' means 'consecutively'.

Thanks! I fixed it. :)

And if you are so good at spelling why not meet me in a game of:

?

Great fun. You will love it.

It is on the other profile for the person.

Just click on the person's user-name in the forum, and you see something like this:

Their last log-in date is shown near the top on the right.

That is probably the last visit to the forum and one could never have come here.

You posted this message 20 days ago. I've got 2 spoons since then, you - zilch. Probably in the better days you would get a spoon with 150% but not today. Just took a look at the 6 latest recipients - all have 200% including our friend Stephen Senter US, who got it 1 hour ago:

Hi Xarben.

I have never taken any notice of my "brain level" or number of points, really, except when someone asks about them.
I don't think (in my view of importances) Stephen is exactly a role-model.

OK, he has a "brain-level" which sits at 200% constantly.
He has over a million "neurons".
But his total contribution to the forum has been to copy-and-paste a definition of a couple of paragraphs from an earlier post - sixteen whole times.

Here's another similar:

He has two million neurons!
All he does is copy-and-paste earlier posts.

We are not considering anyone's importance and I never questioned yours. This is what we have on the table:

Quote:
According to what a member can earn a meal.

I suggested that a level of 200% was a desideratum. You quoted an admin saying 100% was enough. This is why I'm tracking your and my numbers since that your message. You had 45 spoons at that time and I had 55. I have 5 more today - you are still there.

At the same time I admit your contribution to the community is hundred times that of mine. And I will have to abate even that lest they ban me again. :)

LOL. Dancing

If someone considers your comment to be an "ad hominem attack", they must be paranoid!

I suppose that nowadays, with some members working to stay at 200%, the likelihood of getting a 'spoon' at a lower level drops dramatically.
