Lol obviously this particular thread didn't have anything to do with India in particular. But if you go through the entire of the first post in this thread, you will see i wrapped up by asking about the treatment of enemy civilians all over the world. And i don't blame US for it too. Honestly, these things really don't have easy answers. Which is why I only asked your opinions.

Because you have made significant changes in your original post, it's difficult to follow who responded to what.
However, I think you've ascertained what the vast majority of Americans feel about the general issue, and that there are almost always circumstances that keep it from being black and white.

But I didn't make any changes in the original post, except during the period I was posting it. By the time you had responded, the post was just the way it is now.

Happy New Year, Kisholoy.

I agree that "off of" is common usage here. "Off" is used as a preposition in this case and "of" is an article. They join the noun "bus" to the other parts of the sentence. If this is incorrect, please let me know. I, too, have been out of school a long time.

It's one of those common mistakes that creeps into a language and hangs around. "Off of", as in "take your shoes off of the bed" is incorrect.

Well well my boys and girls

I am not really that superior person as you have ever thought.
And I am not an extraordinary human too, the only thing that I am special
with is my good deeds, and the way i treat children, people, and families.
By the way if you are interested in the actual story i would say that Jesus
was also a peaceful great human and he was not the son of God. God is alone and has no family.
So that God have choosen Jesus to be his prophet not son , to deliver his messages
to all people of the planet. That there is no one but God.
I am very scared to my children whom have been deceived by those Isrealy bustered.

And I wish you all happy chistmas dear peaceful littel children.

From New York you say? I think someone from New York would have a better command of English than this.

Without knowing more about this, I think this is a severe miscarriage of justice. What was he supposed to do if he recognized this was an endangered species? Let the tiger eat him? Maybe that would have been best because our species has too many and the tiger's too few. And how is he supposed to pay a 70,000 dollar fine? If he's making average income, that's probably less than 200 dollars a month. I shudder to think what would have happened if he'd eaten a Panda.

I think it's more akin to the second question you ask, rather than the first. People like to model the behavior of those they observe, or will at least rationalize their behavior using those they observe as justication. Those in positions of high social acclaim are more likely to be modelled by more people.

It's a monkey-brain thing.

I agree with you, Geeman. And athletics adds a new dimension to this mix. How do we account for the violence that sometimes follows a sporting event - even when the rioters are on the winning side? !!!

It's especially prevalent in Europe, etc. with the soccer thugs. That part, I just don't understand.

There is little chance of that. You see, it won't be the lecture of some politician. It will be ordinary people who are themselves facing the problems. How can it be biased, can you clarify?

You clarified it yourself above. You agreed that they may well mouth what the media wants them to say. Also, in any issue, there is more than one side - sometimes multiple sides. People see the same problem differently, and will often include their biases in what they consider 'fact'.
