Anja & UlaLunette: feel free to PM me - I.m a native Dutch speaker and don't mind giving you a hand with your pronounciation, we could hook up through Messenger or Skype.

Cheers,

Bart.

I wouldn't have any problem at all with "schatje" but I'd use "meiske" instead of "meisje." My preference there is probably because of the regional lingo/dialect where I grew up - "meisje" would not be incorrect.

Boaster (British), or bragger (North American), would be "opschepper" in Dutch. If "patsertje" means "iemand met een grote smoel" then the English slang word is bullshitter.

Taatje - vriend, makker in het oude dialect gesproken in Huizen. Nooit taat, alleen taatje
Gerole - geruild in het Hilversums dialect, mochten we op school niet zeggen
Roggel - het woord heeft de klank van het geluid dat je keel maakt net voor je hem uitspuugt
