I guess I really haven't 'thought' about colors... just appreciated them.

The subject was also just brought up recently in the medical forum under the topic entitled Medical Marijuana, and an attempt was made within that thread to also redirect it back to the "Legalize It!" topic that Raparee has already given the link to.

I have no idea if your attempt at starting a third thread on discussing the legalization of marijuana has anything at all to do with the problems you were having with your temporary suspensions, FlashBack1968, but I do know the user guidelines say this:

No Double Posting
Open only one thread for each question. Please do not double post, and do not duplicate threads. Duplicate discussions will be deleted without notice. Also, do not post just to increase your post count, points, or rank.

It makes me wonder if the computer programming is set up to automatically reject a topic that's title actually includes the same key words as an existing topic but, perhaps, is unable to do an "auto-rejection" for a duplicate topic in which the actual title doesn't really give it away. For example, "Legalize It!" doesn't let the reader know what it is really about until you get into the first post itself. That could also account for why the "Medical Marijuana" topic did not automatically get rejected.

I'm just guessing here about how the duplications get determined and dealt with. Regardless of whether my guess is on target or not, I really doubt that your particular "marijuana" post was rejected on the basis of the subject matter, in and of itself. It doesn't appear as if TFD has been trying to censor discussions about the opinions on the legalization of it.

My thinking was the word "marijuana" had triggered the suspension. But I knew that result didn't make sense. I was unaware that the post was in other forums. Finally today TFD admin (Nick) sent me this email:
Quote:
Lloyd,

After some detective work, we determined that this automated suspension occurred because the URL of YouTube had been erroneously added to our list of banned phrases. Whenever we mark a post as spam, any links in it are added to the banned phrases list. These are usually spam sites, but in one case, a link to YouTube must have been included, and this prevented it from appearing in any future posts. We have since removed it from the list.

I have removed your suspension again.

We're very sorry for the inconvenience.

Please feel free to add your post -- and let the debate begin!

Thanks again for your continued participation and patience.

Sincerely,

Nick

So it appears that the link I inserted was the cause. Or the software that TFD uses thought the link was the problem.

There is a thread under the Legal section discussing just this.

ETA: Oops, just realized that could come off as harsh. Sorry. I just wanted to redirect you to a post that should contain a lot of what you're looking to hear/read/discuss. :)

I need to get out more. I didn't realize that it was being discussed or debated in another forum. d'oh!

This is the Post that got my account suspended THREE times. I hesitate to click the 'Post' button at the bottom. Shame on you d'oh!

Bill O'Reilly & Cheech and Chong on Legalization of Marijuana

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gV1T51I1pA

As the Baby Boomers get older and the economy is sinking fast, this question becomes a news item more often because of the tax that government can impose on the sale of marijuana.

Is O'Reilly is expressing the true Conservative position? Conservatives believe that government should interfere with people's lives only when they are causing harm to or endangering others. He does state that adults should be able to do what they want.

What are your thoughts on the video interview or the question. Is it time to legalize marijuana?

Topic: My Account Was Temporarily Suspended... AGAIN
Posted: Monday, November 23, 2009 5:08:00 PM
This morning, after my first suspension ended, I attempted to post a New Topic. This topic happen to be the same topic I attempted early Saturday morning when I was immediately sent to the 'your account has been temporarily suspended" page.

I thought I had a clue as to why this was happening and sent the administrators an email.

I recieved this reply:
Dear FlashBack,

After working with our programmers this morning to determine the problem, I was able to remove your suspension.

As was speculated on the forum, short-term suspensions can be the result of glitches or errors such as accidentally submitting the same post multiple times. Such automated suspensions are designed to prevent spammers and bots.

We are still working to determine what caused the automated suspension this morning so we can prevent it from occuring again. We also plan to implement measures to make automated suspensions easier for administrators to identify and evaluate.

Please be assured that the suspension was not related to the content of your posts.

Thank you for your patience and participation -- we do appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Nick

Appears to be a glitch as suggested. It does make me feel better... I guess.
Thank you for responding Nick.

Could be Christine. That's the only possibility that I can come up with, as one that I posted could be considered questionable. I don't know. But the suspension is over and I had a good weekend in spite.

This has happened at least three times that I know of and each event was just a "glitch" in the program. It usually followed TFD site maintenance.

What do you mean by suspension? Last night when I tried to access this website, the homepage didn't appear, just a message "Access denied..... license expired..." But it was fine in a while. It gave the same message for twitter.

Is it this you all are talking about?

No, it was suspended. I could access TFD main page, that was nice of them, but could not access any of the forums. I would always get this page:
