how come there is only a British pronunciation for the word "Gigantism" in the free dictionary website?
does the american pronunciation for the word gigantism differ from the british one? the british regards the 2nd g in the word as we pronounce g in goal.
thanks for the help.. =)

how do you go to work sounds more like the person is asking about the transportation you are using and not the route..

I agree with Steve's comments. Some rules to follow when using "thinking of" and "thinking about" are:
1. If you are imagining something, use "think of" 2. If you are considering something, use "think about"
For 8: I had never thought of becoming an actor.---> To me, this means that you are not an actor now, and you had never had thoughts regarding taking this career path. If you were to say "I had never thought about becoming actor," I jump to the conclusion that right now you ARE an actor, but you had previously not considered this as a career choice.
Another example: If I say "I need to think of the solution to this problem," I mean that I need to find an answer. But, if I say "I need to think about the solution to this problem," I mean that a solution has already been proposed and I need to consider whether or not it will work/is practical/etc.
It seems to me that one can use "about" to convey the idea of something that is concrete. One thinks about the past or thinks about issues.
I hope that this helped!
really liked how you explained it..now it is clear for me when to use which as i never actually differentiated between both of them. thanks

hmm.. well i have chose to study medicine.. and i guess what motivated me was my pain threshold..it was so low that i would always be in pain no matter how soft the pain or hit was! i would feel it as if its level 10 in a range 1-10 (10 being the highest) so when i was young i realized that doctors are so nice they actually can stop this pain =) and also my dad was a doctor..so it just motivated me all along.. and also i think the fact that you helped someone feel better or the act of saving someone's life is an overwhelming feeling..
