The largest military operation of World War II, Operation Barbarossa was the codename for Nazi Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union. I admire and respect the sacrifices and efforts of Russian people in defending their fatherland, against Nazi Germany. This is something that Russian people can always be proud of, whichever way we look at and interpret history.

`over four million soldiers of the Axis powers invaded the USSR
a 2,900 km (1,800 mi) front
the largest invasion in the history of warfare
Barbarossa used 600,000 motor vehicles and 750,000 horses'

These numbers are mind-boggling.
