What a thought! It couldn't be more realistic and precise. It belongs to Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil.

Aphorism 156 in Nietzsche's "Beyond Good and Evil" actually refers to madness as being rare in individuals as opposed to groups, etc.

" Madness is something rare in individuals — but in groups, parties, peoples, ages it is the rule." http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Beyond_Good_and_Evil#Aphorism_156

In my opinion, I think a lot of individuals are insane. It's just that because they're singular entities, other people are more apt to dismiss it. However, when a lot of folks add their individual madnesses to a collective, then it's as recognizable as Godzilla in attack mode.
