It's already too late to try this great advice. Maybe next time though...

I agree, Bully rus.

And for those learners of English who have learnt not to use 'would' in a conditional clause, be at rest. The verb 'would' is used here in the meaning of 'want to', which was quite common in the past.

I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger. (Anon)

Good and Bad Children
by Robert Louis Stevenson

(From Child's Garden of Verses)

Children, you are very little,
And your bones are very brittle;
If you would grow great and stately,
You must try to walk sedately.

You must still be bright and quiet,
And content with simple diet;
And remain, through all bewild'ring,
Innocent and honest children.

Happy hearts and happy faces,
Happy play in grassy places--
That was how in ancient ages,
Children grew to kings and sages.

But the unkind and the unruly,
And the sort who eat unduly,
They must never hope for glory--
Theirs is quite a different story!

Cruel children, crying babies,
All grow up as geese and gabies,
Hated, as their age increases,
By their nephews and their nieces.

We are all still children. Act carefully.

It is difficult for children today to walk sedately. The poor things trip over their pants and their little arse gets real cold when they slide down to their knees. Oops, hate when that happens.

His novel "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is worth reading and understanding. Part of every individual consists of Mr Hyde, a sort of lycanthrope who needs to be cudgelled every now and then to keep him ineffectual.
