I am in love with the English language. As close as I can come to mastering it, is understanding how to create a sentence. Can I say the language is an art? One question tho, why do the members state "do not reply"? Am I doing something wrong....again? Curious Paul

Hello Paul - I think that there is a distinction which you have not noticed.

When someone (a member) sends you a 'private message' on the forum, you should answer the private message (which you will find in your Forum In-box, at the top of this page).

When you receive a message, the computer (the one at Farlex) automatically sends you an e-mail - just telling you that you have a message. You should not reply to the e-mail (because there is no-one there except the computer).

The Private Message is from a real person, and you should answer.

The E-mail is from a computer, and will say "do not answer".

I wouldn't quite say that language is an art - but the ability to communicate well and effectively IS an art.

One of the 'philosophical' descriptions of "ART" is "quality of communication".

Keep asking questions Paul - Applause - that's the best way to improve understanding.

"I wish I could master writing the English language".

Yes Paul, you and a million others whose first language is English. At least you are ambitious to improve, and you will if you persevere.
