Jimmy Page

He has co-written many of rock's most popular anthems, including "Stairway to Heaven," which has been the subject of controversy ever since reports surfaced that it contains subliminal messages that can be heard in what way? "Stairway to Heaven" contains (backwards) a pro-marijuana message.- Right?

His heyday was a little before my time, but I got into Led Zepellin in a big way when I discovered music in my teens. Few musicians have such an unique sound. To quote Jack Black: "Their songs are about Vikings & sex & hobbits & Vikings having sex with hobbits!"

The so-called subliminal message in Stairway to Heaven is "Here's to my sweet satan". You can listen for yourself in a Wikipedia article on "back-masking", a technique where the recording, when played backwards contains the secret message. I have listened to it and, with imagination and determination to hear such a message, I can see where it might be construed. However, I have to accept Robert Plant's statement that "Stairway to Heaven' was written with every best intention, and as far as reversing tapes and putting messages on the end, that's not my idea of making music."
