I think the words should not contain more than eight letters.

We had this 8-letters-discussion back at page 360. There we agreed to simply ignore it :D
And btw, mayflower has 9 letters Whistle

P.S.: I was out of touch for some time, hence I had no idea of 'dropping' of the 8-letter rule. :) I stand with the gang. After all, rules are meant to be broken. ;)

Thanks AD. If you are talking of 2015-16, yes I was on a self-imposed sabbatical. I can see you have also returned.

srirr: Following "knitwear" with "reckon" is not correct, nor for that matter is "chief" following "facsimile". You need to follow "knitwear" with a word that contains "kr" in that precise order, such "backroad", and...

I was gone for a few days, so I didn't get to watch you guys.
Beam, you blew it when you posted "eighty > weyve" (ends with 'e')
And then srirr with "knitwear > reckon" (begins with 'r')
I could go on, but that's enough for now. Cheers to all!!

I am sorry if I missed any rules. I admit I was not regular in the game for some time, and if any rule had changed during this time, I am not aware. If I can quote from the first post of this thread:

Rules:
1.New word contains upto eight letters.
(This rule was unanimously accepted to be dismissed. So, there is no limit on number of letters now.)
2.First and Last letters must be present in upcoming word.

Examples:

Green >> gentle >> genius >> song

There is no mention of the order of the letters. The first and last letters of the previous word can come in any order.
The first example also says the same.

genius >> song

The two letters need not be adjacent.

green >> gentle

On other pages too, there had been such instances and hence I had no idea that the order of the first and last letter need to be followed.

Is there any change in the rules?

Alice, thanks for the correction...even after playing for so long, I still make mistakes.

srirr -- below are the current rules. These have been posted at the top of many pages, but haven't been for several weeks, so it's understandable that you weren't aware of them:

******** RULES ********

Hello everyone :)

The rules of this game changed in 2014.

The words you choose as answers here must be words that can be found in English dictionaries (this includes proper nouns). Please reject acronyms, nicknames, trademarks and their derivatives. English words can contain hyphens, apostrophes but no space.

The new word you're going to post must contain the first letter of the preceding word immediately followed by the last letter of the preceding word, in this order,

AND

The new word you're going to post must not start/end with either the first or the last letter of the preceding word.

If no valid reply has been posted for at least 24 hours because it looks impossible to find any:

- Anyone, feel free then to be the first to post a message asking a valid reply to be posted by any player (including the poster of the latest answer) within the next 24 hours. Only the first posted message will be taken into account in that context;

- if there's no valid reply after that, the player who posted that message keeps the game going by posting a new word, which must have at least one possible valid reply and which hasn't been previously posted in the active page of this game.

If no word has been posted 24 hours after the end of the 24 hour period, feel free, anyone, to be the first to start a new chain with a new word which must have at least one possible valid reply and which hasn't been previously posted in the active page of this game.

Thank you.
