Pet Piercings, Tattoos Banned in New York

The state of New York has passed a law targeting the controversial practices of pet tattooing and piercing that will leave offenders with up to $250 in fines and up to 15 days imprisonment. Although the bill was introduced in 2011—after an online entrepreneur began selling "gothic kittens" with piercings down their spines—it gained traction this year when a Brooklyn man publicized tattooing his pit bull while it was anaesthetized for spleen surgery. The law applies to all types of pets and goes into effect in 2015. More...

I was aghast when I read this. Who in their right mind would subject an animal to this brutality. There should be more than a monitory penalty. Besides I think tattoos are ugly.

No, no. Piercings and tattoos are fine for the most intelligent creature on the planet, but not for the less developed. That is cruel, apparently, judging by posts so far.

On the other hand, I've been told I sometimes have a dim view of humanity. I can't imagine why...Whistle

This world is full of really sick people. Those that do this to animal's should have their genitals nailed to a board, then have salt poured over their wounds...

A friends mother would dye her white poodle seasonal colors. It would look like Santa today. I thought that was abusive. Sick people, poor pets.
