Albert Einstein (1879)

Einstein was an intellectual giant of the 20th century whose name has become synonymous with genius. Recognized as one of the greatest physicists of all time, Einstein made countless important contributions to physics, including his theories of relativity, which profoundly revolutionized scientific and philosophical inquiry. In 1921, he received the Nobel Prize for his work on theoretical physics. Though he sought it for decades, Einstein never discovered a unified field theory, which is what? More...

Albert Einstein Quotes

A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit and a violin; what else does a man need to be happy?

Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.

Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish.

Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.

I do not believe that civilization will be wiped out in a war fought with the atomic bomb. Perhaps two-thirds of the people of the earth will be killed.

I have just got a new theory of eternity.

If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.

Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.

Intellectuals solve problems, geniuses prevent them.

It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity.

It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer.

OK. I know Albert was an intellectual genius. But what I still like best is that he gives the word "disheveled" a good name.

The “unified field theory” was an attempt to generalize his theory of gravitation. He wanted to simplify and unify the laws of physics, especially electromagnetism and gravitation.

With each article I read on Einstein, I learn of contributions he made to science that were unknown to me before. I enjoy the little stories that are told about him, which may be factual but I cannot verify. One such story is that he boarded a train and when they came around to collect tickets he could not find his in any of his pockets. The porter said, “I recognize you Mr. Einstein so don’t worry about it, I am sure you purchased a ticket.” Einstein replied, “I have to find it because I don’t remember where I am going.”

Love the quotes and comments.

I bought a lot of Einstein stamps a long time ago.

Einstein: "When I was young, I found out that the big toe always ends up making a hole in the sock," he once said. "So I stopped wearing socks." Einstein was also a fanatical slob, refusing to "dress properly" for anyone. Either people knew him or they didn't, he reasoned - so it didn't matter either way.

I am carrying my heart~I am carrying my rhythm~I am carrying my prayers~But you can't kill my spirit~It's soaring and strong (Paula Cole's Me Lyrics)***We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We ARE spirtual beings having a human experience.(T.deChardin)***There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. My favorite:

Whoever undertakes to set himself up as judge in the field of truth and knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods.

Thanks Christine. Now I know who to blame this "sock-less" trend on. Funny quote Seeker, but how true.

It's amazing that Einstein was unable to find a teaching job after finishing his studies and instead had to settle for a job as a patent clerk. Can you imagine being one of the people who turned down Einstein for a job?
