Umoja Karamu

The African-American holiday of Umoja Karamu, which means "unity feast" in Kiswahili, celebrates family members' commitment to one another. Five periods of African-American life, each symbolized by a color, provide the framework for the ceremony: the family in Africa, before slavery in America (black); the enslaved family in America (white); the family freed from slavery (red); the family struggling for true liberation (green); and the family anticipating the future (orange or gold). Narratives, music, and foods relating to each period are part of the ceremony. More...

Temple of the Black Messiah sounds unusual, but the holiday itself sounds great. What food do they eat which relate to the future? Is everything genetically modified & full of chemicals & preservatives?

It sounds like you don't believe in "better living through chemistry"(DuPont advertising slogan). I understand your skepticism about the long term effects but the worlds food supply would collapse with out them. The worlds population demand on the food supply could not be supported by organic farming methods.

So just what has happened in this country? The American Missionary Association, worked to abolish slavery but the present day radical Christian right wants to impeach their, yes, their president because he gave health care insurance to the masses. What a really sick group of bastards; yes bastards as their mothers must have been not much more then whores.

DuPont? scepticism? The celebration involves eating food from each period of history. What do you eat to represent the future?
