Unfortunately, I still don't know the philosophy of motherhood, but I have something to say from my own experience. When a female gives a life to a child, she becomes automatically obliged to be wise and kind. This is the hardest and the most amazing division of philisophy to study :)

It's a tragedy that rest of the family so rarely recognize it naturally - without fight for pulpit vacancy, let alone gratitude. Yes Ma'am, yes...

There is no such thing as an instinctive philosophy. Philosophy is a product of an idle mind.

The characteristic is misidentified, it is physiologically impossible to be an instinctive philosopher, but it made me curious enough to find the context. This comes from a book of H.B.S.s, "The Minister's Wooing", and would be better said today as psychologist to convey the original intent. Harriet was an amazing writer, even though the abundance of religious tones in her writing are tedious to me, her writing has a rather fetching fascination.

Thought for the day: what the blue blazes does JUSTIN Excellence smoke? Is he referring to Beecher Stowe's vampire ninja period?

My mother taught me religion - "You'd better pray that will come out of the carpet.

My mother taught me about hypocrisy - "If I've told you once I've told you a million times - Don't exaggerate!!!

Most mothers are instinctive survivors and if its instinctive philosophies relate to that pressing issue - let it be. We need it more now than when it was written. By the way, nice frills and thrills - hairstyle too.

Most mothers are instinctive philosophers.

Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811-1896)

Applause A decent hu-woman being, mother has a strong instinct to know what is wholesome and what is unwholesome for the human being/s that came out of her body, and that has his/her mother's blood and genes.
The one who gibes against his/her own decent mother gibes against himself/herself. Many have done "unphilosophical" stuff ... ha, ha, ha... to spite the decent mother, but, for his/her mistakes, would always blame the mother, and on occasion the father, and on occasion both.

From "The minister's wooing", by H. Beecher Stowe - Chapter 21

(The Minister's Wooing is the first of Harriet Beecher Stowe's three great novels of New England religion, that weave scenes and folklore of New England life with the debates and religious agonies that led her from her father's Edwardsian revivalist Calvinism to evangelical Episcopalianism. )

"But, ever and anon, as the mother worked, she followed
the motions of her child anxiously.

' Mary, my dear,' she said, ' the eggs are giving out ; hadn't
you better run to the barn and get a few ?'

Most mothers are instinctive philosophers. No treatise on
the laws of nervous fluids could have taught Mrs. Scudder
n better role for this morning, than her tender gravity, and
her constant expedients to break and ripple, by changing em-
ployments, that deep, deadly under-current of thoughts which
she feared might undermine her child's life. "

Shame on you "CHRISTOPHER Hitchens' op-ed on non-soldiers arguing for war (Nov. 19) completely misses the main reason people don't want to hear from those "armchair generals" - they don't like someone who evaded military service when it was their turn to go to be so quick to sign off on sending other people to go.

That included George W. Bush, who joined the National Guard not long before his turn was coming, got in astonishingly quickly - and then went AWOL to work on a political campaign. They also don't want to send their sons or daughters to war while these individuals' sons or daughters stay home....."

I think and say based on my vast reading and some wisdom:
Excuse the decent population, but usually hu-men tend to see hu-women as sexual objects, but any educated and edified human being knows how hu-men roll in bed in their sexual writhing and, and when they zip their pantaloons throw a finger at hu-women.

The decent mothers like Lysistrata have shown those soldiers (euphemism for mercenaries) that it takes the decent hu-woman, wife and mother of strong spirit to stop war mongering. Hu-women that act like hu-men without hu-being decency cannot create a better society. Philosophy explores the meaning of life and hu-being happiness, but as long as there are wars and their sneaky hu-men and hu-women, there won't be true happiness.

Unfortunately, there are warmongering mothers who do not fit the portrait.

Yes they are and I thank my mother for all the insight she gave me over the years, though in the early years her insight/knowledge fell on deaf ears... :-)
