Chuck Berry (1926)

Berry was one of the most innovative musicians of the 1950s. His unique blues-derived guitar style and witty lyrics helped define the rock music genre and earned him one of the first spots in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A dynamic performer, he is also known for his signature crouching and gliding "duck walk," a move that has been imitated by many musicians. What legendary musician said, "If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it 'Chuck Berry'"? More...

"Just let me hear some of that rock and roll music
Any old way you choose it
It's got a back beat, you can't blues it
Any old time you use it
Gotta be rock 'n' roll music
If you wanna dance with me..."
That's history.

"Reportedly, a police raid on his house did find videotapes of women using the restroom, and one of the women was a minor. Also found in the raid were 62 grams of marijuana."

I knew I would find some drugs in this article!

Didn't expect the peeping-TomBerry part, though...

John Lennon said that "if you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it 'Chuck Berry'."

The first record I brought as a youngster was 'My Ding-A-Ling' by Chuck Berry.

That song really annoys me now. Boo hoo!

Such an incredible talent. Did he truly believe women were stealing from his restaurant? He must have been counting paper towels and toilet paper and damned determined to catch them in the act. Then the vilification of Turtles! My-Ding-A-Ling ;-{ What ever........

Amazingly I'm listening to Chuck right now on "Malt Shop Music". Always really enjoyed his music.
