Thousands were launched on Allied targets during the last year of the war, causing more than 9,000 deaths. One of the rocket's first targets was London, which was hit just days after Hitler declared his plans to start V-2 attacks. To what did the British government initially attribute the resulting explosion? More...

V-2 Rocket may be considered as a protagonist of Gravity's Rainbow - a 1973 novel by American writer Thomas Pynchon.

As the V2 explosions came without warning, the British government initially attempted to conceal their cause by blaming them on defective gas mains. However, the public was not fooled and soon began sardonically referring to the V-2's as "flying gas pipes".

Technology always makes major leaps forward in times of war. Why can't we allocate funds for research in peacetime? Do we really need the motivation of 'getting someone' to further scientific study?

Yes we do. Brick wall

Peace out.

In Antwerp, a V2 hit a cinema during a fullhouse movieshow, killing hundreds. But the dropping of bombs by zeppelins in the beginning of World War I were the first signs of warfare by means of aircraft.

Out of war and ciaos comes, great (and not so great) inventions. Why can't we, as caring human's, just spend time "inventing" great products, without first killing off so many of our fellow living brothers & animals?

Answer, 'cause the real money to be made in in the products of war and the mass armament of nations, perpetuating those nations and peoples that love to kill and/or take/steal from others..... What a really sick world this remains, and we question why the suicide rate has increased.

In Israel today, it was announced that that government will go ahead and build homes for more Jews on lands that still belongs to Palestinian's, now that there has been another ceased fire in that war.

And the birth of America's Apollo program, lest we forget. Where better to hide coveted war criminals.
