You've solved more than half of it already...

1 - map is correct!

2 - not quite...when you pay for something with cash, you often get this in return

3 - world is correct!

4 - William is correct!

5 - Smith is correct!

6 - no, none of those..."sprout" is closest. Think of a very "young plant" -- it has just undergone something...

7 - modern is correct!

8 - no, but the correct word is all of those things, and more.

1 - Sixth, sense, Bruce, "dead people": no. It's about what that boy is doing. In that movie, it's related to seeing "dead people" but it could be about something else in real life.

2 - David, Beckham, idol, look: no. It's about someone else than David Beckham in that picture.

3 - play, stage, children: 'play' is quite close. The word to guess is a specific kind of play.

4 - check, checkmate, kill, blood, game over: no. The word to guess is something that belongs to chess (but not only to chess).

1 - talking, speaking, envisioning, channeling

2 - Don't know who the young man next to him is, but I believe the woman sitting next to him is Anna Wintour, so: Anna, vogue, shades, sunglasses

3 - comedy, tragedy, historical, farce

4 - queen, king, board

1 - talking, speaking, envisioning, channeling: the word to guess is a three-syllable noun (plural here). That boy has a secret he wishes to tell that man, i.e. that boy has a *?* to make to that man.

2 - Don't know who the young man next to him is, but I believe the woman sitting next to him is Anna Wintour, so: Anna, vogue, shades, sunglasses
It's actually about that young person ^^
He's a son of David Beckham but it's not necessary to know that. His approximate age matters: he's a *?* (picture taken on September 7, 2014)

3 - comedy, tragedy, historical, farce: very close! The word to guess is a synonym of 'tragedy'.

4 - queen: yes!
