enunciate

(verb) Speak, pronounce, or utter in a certain way.

Synonyms: articulate, pronounce, say, sound out

Usage: As she spoke, she enunciated each word slowly and carefully.

Interesting. I think I've been enunciating enunciate wrong my whole life. I always thought this would be a hard e, like the e in me. But according to TFD's audio file and pronunciation key, it is not.

My father always complains when singers don't enunciate. He takes enunciate to mean "speak clearly."
