UN Fears Slaughter in CAR

Despite the presence of thousands of French and African Union peacekeeping troops, sectarian violence continues to be a serious problem in the Central African Republic (CAR). Tensions between Christians and Muslims there have reached a "terrifying level," according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and nearly 16,000 people living in the capital, Bangui, have had to flee their homes in recent weeks. The UNHCR, fearful that Muslims in areas near the capital are now at risk of being "slaughtered" by Christian militia, is working to evacuate some 19,000 Muslims from these areas. More...

In the long term we can hope that religion will change the nature of man and reduce conflict. But history is not encouraging in this respect. The bloodiest wars in history have been religious wars

The BBC's Imogen Foulkes, in Geneva, reports.

There have been widespread reports of horrific attacks, including acts of cannibalism and children's heads being cut off.

Don't you love the BBC.... 'widespread reports' is NOT NEWS it is rumour, used to scare people.

Somewhere in this conflict we will find Western meddlers stirring up the trouble because there is something they want from this country (for nothing). The more destabilized a country is, the more the West can ply their highest-revenue producing items - guns, bombs and weapons of destruction!

1,300,000 out of 4,600,000 have fled the Central African Republic since the outster of the last two presidents. I wonder what the real story is: what valuable asset in hidden in the soil in CAR or why are French troops be there. America's most decorated Marine, General Smedley Butler, said that troops are actually just the handmaidens of the corporations.

It's about time Christians fight back. Innocent civilians have been slaughtered by Muslims, churches burned down and Nuns raped and murdered.

Clever User Name: there is always Hope. Always. Never give up.

kenturner1: Christians and Muslims have historically been involved in slaughtering each other (supposedly in God's name when we all know it's to do with land and power). They are both as bad as each other.

Marquerite: You said 'America's most decorated Marine, General Smedley Butler, said that troops are actually just the handmaidens of the corporations.' At the very least, it's good to hear General Butler publicly admit this. Thank you for the quote.
