Hello Christy, though your question is from November 6,
I would like to indicate

A very big and comfortable portal for learners of languages
such as French, English, German and a lot of other languages.
You even can learn Japanese.
It is not a commercial portal, it is free of charge.

Have a try. I think it's an excellent portal for learners.

Going to France would be optimal, but rog's link is very good.

Read books. Look up words you don't know in a dictionary. If you find something too confusing, ask people here to explain it to you. That's what has worked for me. I've been going for about 4 years now but I can read pretty much any novel without too much trouble, and I've only worn out a couple of dictionaries.

It also helps to be a very determined and stubborn person (so they tell me).
