As much as we like association games, I thought it would be fun to try a non-association game. I did forum searches on 'non-association' 'nonassociation', 'un-association' and 'unassociation' and got no hits -- so it's possible that I've stumbled onto a novel idea.
If so, it's been a very long time since that happened! Here's the idea:

Respond to the previous post with a word, words or phrase that has nothing whatsoever to do with it (the previous post).

This game should appeal to those of us who have wanted to post a word, words or phrase that often tickles or haunts us but never seemed appropriate in other association games. So I implore you, please be inappropriate! Here's the 1st post:

Water, water everywhere

Well, here's mine:

"Good-night, ladies, good night, sweet ladies, good night, good night."

By the way: that was Tupelo, wasn'it it? Wonderful song!

Make mine julep

(PJ- Blue Suede Shoes was written & first recorded by Carl Perkins when he, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis & Elvis were under contract with Sam Phillips at Sun Records.
Perkins said Cash gave him the original idea about blue suede shoes. When Elvis went to RCA, Blue Suede Shoes was the B-side of his first record for that studio,
Heartbreak Hotel.)

Oh I thought yours was a quotation from Tupelo by Nick Cave.
But it is not Blue Suede Shoes, is it?

Cave's Tupelo is about Elvis' birth during a heavy thunderstorm in Tupelo, Mississippi. His song also pays homage to (or owes a debt to) Lead Belly for the "looky looky yonder" line.

Now give us a another non-association! {;^)

It's good to have another game, gradyone. Let's see how far this takes us.

Happy, slappy, lappy, ain't too proud to be a bitch.

(I've no idea what this means; a guy I worked with as a paramedic used to say this and I've no idea why; but it feels good to say it!)

blue-footed booby

(With thanks to JJ for the memory of a pic he posted long ago of two blue-footed boobies that captured one of them eying the other one's feet.
I used FreeDELFia's crippled forum search function to look for that pic, but no hit; however other hits revealed that thar, DarkMoon & uuaschbaer,
as well as JJ, posted sightings of this incredible seabird.)

(Thanks, Brit, for giving this thread an affirmative nod. Our specie has a distinctive ability to respond to conversational stimuli in ways that have
nothing whatsoever to do with the previous subject, so I figured this game would be a shoo-in to develop active participation.)

A pic post in a text game? How appropriately inappropriate! Here's the star of this post --

Oh, my...

I finally figgured out the game.

Here goes....

"Hark, here lies a shattered heart!!

Goodnight, Sweet Prince, until we meet tomorrow. May flights of Angles sing thee to thy rest."

Hamlet.
