Spooky coincidence... A movement from Lemminkäinen Suite was on the program of my eldest daughter's orchestra concert last weekend.

Also on the program:

Stravinsky's Firebird (Inferno Dance)

... talk about ambitious!

Yes, I was sorry to hear that.

Here's to you Joni.

" basically what makes music great is what it makes you feel,..... " I agree totaly with you. It is the feelings that make music so fine. Music can make you feel happy, vivid, holly, prettty, sexy, intelligent, sweet, nice, warm, cold, angry, sad, and many times it is music what bring back times gone by. Viva la Música

The finale piece on my daughters current tour. She describes performing it as "a life affirming moment", which I'm unashamed to say makes me very, very, proud.

Oh, just to be clear, that's not her Orchestra, although the standard is similar... but then I would say that.Shhh

She plays with a County Youth Orchestra that still has a ridiculous no videoing policy left over from the over protective 1990's.

But thanks all the same. For their age it strikes a good balance between 'proper classical' and 'stuffy classical'. Boo hoo!

I use music to cheer me up, calm me down, invigorate me or help me chill out. All music does some of that, but some jsut seem to hit the spot every time you hear it. What about you guys?
