Dear colleagues.
What is the meaning of Catenary-free power supply system in this sentence.
"The selection of Alstom for the maintenance of Al Safouh Tramway was prompted by the fact that is the only company in the world that manufactures tram sets powered by modern, safe and catenary-free power supply system which helps preserve the urban environment and historic heritage of the city of Dubai.Dubai will be the first city out side Europe to use this system"

overhead power lines

instead you use a ground level system which is less intrusive

it is the same root as concatenation in programming, making a chain, and the wires loop down like a chain between the supports - hence 'catenary'.

"Catenary-free" means "with no aerial power line to feed electric power to the tram"

Dubai,
sorry if I continue to nag about this,
but "alot" is not a word.

Thanks a lot!

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
