Once took a 1st class train trip from Antananarivo to Fianarantsoa in Madagascar (photo by Carey Nash).
Not expensive.

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

A special phenomenon of vocabulary are words for ideas that are very often used in everyday language. For one idea there are ten, twenty or more words or expressions. They are 'en vogue' for a certain time then sink down to the bottom and new ones come up.

The idea of the adjective 'good/very good' is such a field (I labelled it prima-Adjective in German - that would be first-class adjectives).
There are a lot of expressions of every style level: first-class, excellent, splendid - high-end - great, top, top-notch, tops and so on.
It would be a linguistic study to establish a list of all these adjectives with information about use (AmE, BrE), time of use, style-level and so on.
