"Introibo ad altare Dei." (I go unto the altar of God.) These are the opening lines to the Catholic liturgy of the Mass and James Joyce's Ulysses:
STATELY, PLUMP BUCK MULLIGAN came from the stairhead,
bearing a bowl of lather on which a mirror and a razor lay
