Vestal VirginsThe Vestal Virgins were a revered and privileged group of Roman priestesses. They maintained the sacred fire of Vesta, the goddess of the hearth, collected water from a sacred spring, and cared for sacred objects in the temple's sanctuary. It occurred to me that "Vestal Virgin" would be a good substitute for "Beast of Burden" in the Stones' classic hit from their 1978 "Some Girls" album, e.g., "I'll never be your Vestal Virgin, never, never, never be, etc." It would work, right? What! You're not too sure!
