Long Days at Office Double Depression RiskLonger workdays appear to significantly increase
depression risk, particularly for junior and mid-level employees. A study of British
civil servants finds that those who average at least 11 hours a day at the office are about two and a half times more likely to develop depression than those who work an average of
seven to eight hours. The findings are consistent with previous research on
overtime and depression; however, experts are surprised by the extent to which depression risk is increased.
