In the early sixties I owned a turquoise Ford Consul with a front leather bench seat and column gear change.

Cars in those days were much less reliable and frequently needed decoking. They had carburettors and the jets often got gunged up. Many like me did their own repairs. That particular car I decoked ... rebuilt the gear box... changed the clutch... changed the brakes and did the body work up... put a new speedo cable and hand brake cable etcetera. And I am not a mechanic.

I had the car in a farm yard up on blocks of sawn wood with the wheels off.

I loved that car.

I intend on swapping the 350 HP engine for a new fuel injected 427 with racing headers and intake. Change the transmission to a five speed manual. Carburetors are well known for not working, they are irritating to rebuild, and I want nothing to do with them in this project. Shame on you I am doing all of the body work myself too. Nice car by the way. My uncle used to have a black one.
