It is intriguing why a God well known the world over has his mind concentrating on the foreskin of a penis. An elderly man named Abram is told to cut the foreskin of his penis as a symbolic act of an agreement. Why did Hashem concentrate his mind on the penis when Abram was fully clothed, how is it that his mind of all things had such an idea for what would become a well known covenant in generations to come. Today Jews and Moslems still practice this agreement with Hashem - Allah.
Could the manner of the English language phrase for expressing one's country by the use of the word "Her" or "She" indicate that due to the act of a well known God's mind is focussed on the penis, concluding God Hashem - Allah is a woman?
Lots more I can say about the cult of Abram (Abraham after circumsicing) for now this should suffice.

Interesting questions. Though some blasphamous but still worth intriguing.
It's generally believed that Prophets were born to circumsised. The followers adopted it later. I think it was a tatoo in the begining and became the tradition of the believers. Though all Muslim men get their foresking cut even quite before they know the usage of the organ but still its not an obligatory part of their faith. I think its prefered to do for the certain hygenic rules of Islam.

My thoughts are that the penis is pretty significant to men...some even think they aretheir penis. To give a piece of it to God is like a symbolic act of giving themselves to God. It is just a thought.:) Or perhaps I should say it is a symbolic act of consecrating their life to God or showing their obedience to his will or their allegiance to him.

"Circumcision of newborn boys (I.e., within the first month of life) brings numerous health benefits, including: 1 – Protection against local infection in the penis, which may result from the presence of the foreskin, causing tightening of the foreskin, which may lead to retention of urine or infections of the glans (tip) of the penis – which require circumcision in order to treat these problems. In chronic cases, the child may be exposed to numerous diseases in the future, the most serious of which is cancer of the penis. 2 – Infections of the urethra. Many studies have proven that uncircumcised boys are more exposed to infection of the urethra. In some studies the rate was 39 times more among uncircumcised boys. In other studies the rate was ten times more. Other studies showed that 95% of children who suffered from infections of the urethra were uncircumcised, whereas the rate among circumcised children did not exceed 5%. In children, infection of the urethra is serious in some cases. In the study by Wisewell on 88 children who suffered infections of the urethra, in 36 % of them, the same bacteria was found in the blood also. Three of them contracted meningitis, and two suffered renal failure. Two others died as a result of the spread of the micro-organisms throughout the body. 3 – Protection against cancer of the penis: the studies agree that cancer of the penis is almost non-existent among circumcised men, whereas the rate among uncircumcised men is not insignificant. In the US the rate of penile cancer among circumcised men is zero, whilst among uncircumcised men it is 2.2 in every 100,000 of the uncircumcised population. As most of the inhabitants of the US are circumcised, the cases of this cancer there are between 750 and 1000 per year. If the population were not circumcised, the number of cases would reach 3000. In countries where boys are not circumcised, such as China, Uganda and Puerto Rico, penile cancer represents between 12-22 % of all cancers found in men; this is a very high percentage. 4 – Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Researchers found that the STDs which are transmitted via sexual contact (usually because of fornication/adultery and homosexuality) spread more among those who are not circumcised, especially herpes, soft chancres, syphilis, candida, gonorrhea and genital warts. There are numerous modern studies which confirm that circumcision reduces the possibility of contracting AIDS when compared to their uncircumcised counterparts. But that does not rule out the possibility of a circumcised man contracting AIDS as the result of sexual contact with a person who has AIDS. Circumcision is not a protection against it, and there is no real way of protecting oneself against the many sexually transmitted diseases apart from avoiding fornication/adultery, promiscuity, homosexuality and other repugnant practices. (From this we can see the wisdom of Islamic sharee'ah in forbidding fornication/adultery and homosexuality). 5 – Protection of wives against cervical cancer. Researchers have noted that the wives of circumcised men have less risk of getting cervical cancer than the wives of uncircumcised men.

Hmm! Smart Aleck is reeling out the benefits of circimcision like a Physician General! How I wish these were true at least half of what is said! I suggest that circumcision be listed as a scheduled medical event like any other genreral immunisation shots/drops and so on administered to new borns!
Cheers!

In the Abrahmic religions particularly, God is written and spoken as a male not for any sexual identity but for our interactions. Concluding that he concentrates on penis therefore God should be a female is simply a neglision of entire the teachings. The preassumption that he concentrates on penis needs to be revisited. Let me get help from another thread: percivalpecksniff wrote:[size=6][color=brown]From the stand point of the Christian Greek Scriptures to be a fleshly Jew is an irrelevance to God.
Romans 2:28,29.
28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh 29 but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. I think it's WE who concentrate on sexuality as for being naturally captive of it, there are wealth of faithful teachings which invite us to concentrate instead. *It's wonderful to know that all languages are Greek if not understood. *

People do all kinds of strange things in the name of religion. They wear funny hats, sing bad songs, dance silly dances and/or stand around in uncomfortable silences for long periods of time, just to name a few. (I've personally done each of those things at some point or another--sometimes for the sake of the religious people I associated with at the time, sometimes due to my own libations.)
Amongst the strangest has to be body mutilation. In the case of circumcision, it's not only Judeo-Christians that do it, of course, but I really doubt if those who have their children circumcised (or have themselves circumcised as adults, which seems like a special kind of stupid to me) do so for the very slight medical benefit.
Most body modification is done to show one's commitment to a particular group. These days people do a lot of body modification to show they reject a group too. Originally, though, I think that's how it came about. People were circumcised to show that they belonged to a particular group. That it was attributed to God is just an unfortunate byproduct of the hive mind that often takes over when it comes to matters of faith.

Strangely, people in the world do all kinds of funny things, body piercing, tattoo, incest love, gay marriages, boozing and lot other stuffs... but they are not knocked much, but when it comes to others' religion, even a foreskin can bring a usually sane person uttering rubbish.

None - Fate - Whatever: Atheism God = Allah = Yahweh: 1 (one) Monotheïsm Many godsL Polytheism e.g. Hinduism
Do not know: Agnosticism Is the latter a religion or just an ideology?
What about Buddhism? Perhaps all religions are just ideologies. Are these 2 the same semantically?

Cheers! Shivanand, I have circumcised for 46 years, but where have I advertised or where have I advocated for it? This topic was about circumcision and people were supposed to opine, so I mentioned the medical benefits, even you could have given vent to your feelings about that, but you started making jibes, which I am still sure not the best I could expect from you. That's what I think that religious beliefs are very personal, if one doesn't like any of them or all of them, JUST DON'T FOLLOW THEM... but why do you have to come down hard and hurt the feelings of those who follow them? Whatever you have said in this post is commendable, but it doesn't match with what you said in your first post here. Anyway, it's all said and done... the bottom line is... we all must respect each others' beliefs and that will ensure a peaceful world. Thanks

Now then, I personally wonder just how many here would chose to be circumcised if the age of the act was to be decided upon only by the child and it had to be between his 10th and 15th birthday.
My guess it would be very few. How on earth can anyone take the decision to remove a section of the penis just for religious reasons that the child will refute and refuse to adhere to in the future, or just because it was done to them as a child?
NB; I am atheist, my mother was Jewish. I am however glad that I was circumcised, that however does not make it correct.
